Our Cozy Spruce Cabin is a brand new 2026 build, designed with couples in mind. The exterior is stained a rich burgundy that lets the natural grain of the wood come through. Inside, Nordic spruce walls and a warm, plush layout: a deep chaise lounger for two, two beanbag chairs in front of floor-to-ceiling windows looking out into the woods, and Edison string lights inside and along the walkway for soft evening glow. The cabin itself is on the compact side, but the large covered deck and wall of windows keep it open and bright.

THE SPACE

At 255 square feet, the Cozy Spruce Cabin is compact and cozy. A new queen memory-foam mattress, a plush 5.5-foot chaise lounger that seats two adults or sleeps a child, and two beanbag chairs facing floor-to-ceiling windows looking out into the woods. The kitchenette has a mini-fridge, microwave, and an in-unit Keurig with coffee pods. The full bathroom has a 3-by-5-foot walk-in shower and a sink. Dishes, pots, pans, and grilling utensils are stocked in the cabin; when you're done with them, use the provided bin to take dirty items to the bathhouse cabinet, and feel free to swap in clean ones while you're there. We wash everything for you. Smart TV for downtime.

Step outside onto your 205-square-foot covered deck. The cabin sits in an open area on a quieter side of the property, looking out over a newly planted quarter-acre wildflower garden and into mature pines and hardwoods. The garden was planted this season and is still establishing; first blooms have already emerged, with full maturity in 2027. A tall Eastern Hemlock stands about 50 feet off the deck. The deck faces west, so it's shaded in the morning and lit through the afternoon and evening. Sunset views come through the trees.

The deck itself has a round propane fire table (flames rise through glass rocks at the center, surrounded by a flat tabletop), an L-shaped outdoor couch with side table, and a two-person dining table. Edison string lights run inside the cabin and across the deck, and the walkway up is lit the same way. Just down the steps, your own propane grill at ground level.

Climate Control:
The Cozy Spruce Cabin has a large mini-split heating and cooling system that maintains home-like temperatures year-round. Comfortable in any season.

Woodland Setting:
Our cabin sits in the woods, which means occasional insect visitors are part of the experience. You may encounter ladybugs, beetles, the occasional spider, and various flying insects inside. Ants can also find their way in if food or crumbs are left out, so keeping surfaces clean goes a long way. We use natural pest treatments and maintain regular cleaning, but complete bug-free living isn't possible in a forest setting. If you need a fully sealed indoor environment, our Nordic Spruce Cabin may not be the right fit.

THE PROPERTY

Explore our 18 acres of naturally maintained woods with hiking trails, a peaceful pond (say hello to our friendly Muscovy ducks!), two creeks, and quiet spots perfect for reading, photography, painting, meditation, writing your next hit song, or simply relaxing. A creekside meadow surrounded by tall grasses, thousands of ferns, and delicate Lady Slippers makes a great spot for a picnic or some quiet time. You'll likely see whitetail deer and wild turkeys wandering through, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Our quirky flock of ducks and chickens roam the property freely, keeping mosquitoes and ticks naturally low. Seriously, it's amazing how few mosquitoes you'll encounter, considering we're in the Tennessee woods!

The trade-off for greatly reduced mosquitoes and ticks is some periodic noise from our hens and roosters. We keep the chickens contained in the Coop until 8:00 AM. After 8:00 AM, you will hear periodic crowing, and the hens may perform their "egg song" after laying an egg, because they are very proud when they do!

They're friendly, harmless, and always appreciate leftover snacks. The chickens and ducks may hang out around your unit. Consider them your personal mosquito and bug extermination crew.

Our Friendly Border Collies: Four Border Collies live on the property with us. They stay in our residence or their secure kennel except for supervised bathroom breaks and exercise. They never enter guest units. You may occasionally see them outside under our supervision. They are 100% non-aggressive but may enthusiastically run up to you expecting pets and attention.

The Caverns (19 mi): This isn't your average concert venue. Descend into a massive natural cave where the temperature stays a perfect 59 degrees year-round, and the acoustics are so pure that PBS films performances here. Named ACM's Theater of the Year.

Five units share this property with reasonable spacing, but sound carries. Please be respectful of your neighbors.

Quiet time: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM (no loud talking, TV, or music)
Low noise hours: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM (keep noise to a minimum)

When checking out, please make sure all trash is picked up, but leave your trash can at your unit (we will take care of it for you)

Feel free to swap in clean ones while you're there

Fire Pit Safety:
Never leave the propane fire table unattended while in use
Fully turn off the propane fire table before going to bed or leaving the property
The propane fire table is propane-only; please do not add wood, paper, or any other fuel

Wildlife Interaction:
Do not feed wildlife (except our domestic ducks and chickens with approved food scraps)
Secure all food inside to avoid attracting animals, bugs, or ants

Water Usage:
Our property uses well water that is tested twice yearly and filtered for your safety
Water pressure is usually very strong but may be reduced during periods of heavy use (such as morning showers)
Please be mindful of water usage

The Cozy Spruce Cabin at The Getaway on Ranger Creek is located in a beautiful, secluded, and quiet remote area, and is one of the most centrally-located accommodations to many State Parks, hiking areas, waterfalls, The Caverns, and Fast Farms MotorX. However, the closest grocery store is an 8-minute drive, the closest restaurant is a 10-minute drive, and the closest gas station/convenience store is a 7-minute drive. The good news? Amazing hiking and waterfalls are within a 10-minute drive, and many more incredible attractions are just a bit farther away.

This isn't a luxury resort; it's a genuine nature experience. If you want perfectly manicured grounds, room service, and zero wildlife encounters, this isn't your place. But if you'd rather fall asleep to crickets and wake up to birdsong, welcome home.

You will have access to your unit, a private covered deck with propane fire table, a propane grill, designated parking, and the hiking trails, pond, and creekside meadow on our 18-acre property.
