NEWLY RENOVATED IN 2026
Our Scandinavian Cabin was completely renovated in 2026 with a full bathroom with large shower, upgraded insulation, a mini-split climate control system, and design touches that make it comfortable year-round. Clean lines, natural wood, and a minimalist layout that feels calm without feeling empty. This cabin is ready for every season.

THE SPACE
The Scandinavian Cabin is 310 square feet. A plush queen bed and a pull-out sofa bed sleep up to four. A kitchenette with mini-fridge and microwave, plus an in-unit Keurig coffee maker. Dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are handled through the bathhouse cabinet system (grab clean ones from the cabinet, return dirty ones when you're done, and we take care of the rest). The full bathroom has a large shower, and there's a Smart TV.

Step outside onto your 150-square-foot private covered deck in the woods, hung with string lights for after dark. Two rocking chairs for conversation, a dining table for two for meals outside, and a cozy egg-chair loveseat for cuddling. Morning coffee, relaxing afternoons, and quiet evenings with only the trees as your backdrop. Covered, so a rainy day doesn't keep you inside. You also have your own fire pit and propane grill at ground level, with surrounding lights that keep the area usable after sundown.

Important Notes:

Climate Control:
The Scandinavian Cabin has a mini-split heating and cooling system with upgraded insulation, making it comfortable year-round. Note that on the very coldest of winter nights, the temperature inside could get as low as 62 degrees. We do provide additional blankets for Winter stays.

Woodland Setting:
Our cabin sits in the woods, which means occasional insect visitors are part of the experience. You may encounter ladybugs (considered good luck!), beetles, the occasional spider, and various flying insects inside. Ants can also find their way in if food or crumbs are left out, so keeping surfaces clean goes a long way. We use natural pest treatments and maintain regular cleaning, but complete bug-free living isn't possible in a forest setting. If you're looking for a sterile indoor environment, our woodland glamping experience may not be the right fit.

THE PROPERTY
Explore our 18 acres of naturally maintained woods with hiking trails, a peaceful pond (say hello to our friendly Muscovy ducks!), two creeks, and quiet spots perfect for reading, photography, painting, meditation, writing your next hit song, or simply relaxing. A creekside meadow surrounded by tall grasses, thousands of ferns, and delicate Lady Slippers makes a great spot for a picnic or some quiet time. You'll likely see whitetail deer and wild turkeys wandering through, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Our quirky flock of ducks and chickens roam the property freely, keeping mosquitoes and ticks naturally low. Seriously, it's amazing how few mosquitoes you'll encounter, considering we're in the Tennessee woods!

The trade-off for greatly reduced mosquitoes and ticks is some periodic noise from our hens and roosters. We keep the chickens contained in the Coop until 8:00 AM. After 8:00 AM, you will hear periodic crowing, and the hens may perform their "egg song" after laying an egg, because they are very proud when they do!

They're friendly, harmless, and always appreciate leftover snacks. The chickens and ducks may hang out around your unit. Consider them your personal mosquito and bug extermination crew.

Our Friendly Border Collies:
Four Border Collies live on the property with us. They stay in our residence or their secure kennel except for supervised bathroom breaks and exercise. They never enter guest units. You may occasionally see them outside under our supervision. They are 100% non-aggressive but may enthusiastically run up to you expecting pets and attention. If you're uncomfortable with the possibility of a friendly dog encounter, please let us know ahead of time and we'll make every effort to accommodate your needs.

ADVENTURE AWAITS
The Caverns (19 mi): This isn't your average concert venue. Descend into a massive natural cave where the temperature stays a perfect 59 degrees year-round, and the acoustics are so pure that PBS films performances here. Named ACM's Theater of the Year.

Early check-in or late check-out may be available if you contact us at least 12 hours in advance. We'll do our best to accommodate with typically 1 hour early/1 hour late when possible.

Occupancy:

Maximum 4 guests (queen bed, pull-out sofa bed)

Quiet Hours:

Five units share this property with reasonable spacing, but sound carries. Please be respectful of your neighbors.
Quiet time: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM (no loud talking, TV, or music)
Low noise hours: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM (keep noise to a minimum)

All guests must be registered at booking. No unregistered visitors or parties allowed.
Our units are self-check-in. Detailed instructions will be emailed to you prior to your stay.

Trash & Cleanup:

Please dispose of trash in designated trash cans
When checking out, please make sure all trash is picked up, but leave your trash can at your unit (we will take care of it for you)

Dishes & Cleanup:

Use the provided tote to pick up clean pots, pans, and utensils from the cabinet at the front of the bathhouse
When finished, bring the dirty items back in the tote and place them in the bottom of the cabinet
We will wash them for you

Fire Pit Safety:

Never leave fires unattended
Fully extinguish fires before going to bed or leaving the property
Firewood is provided, or you can gather fallen wood in the woods. Please do not cut live or standing trees

Wildlife Interaction:

Do not feed wildlife (except our domestic ducks and chickens with approved food scraps)
Secure all food inside to avoid attracting animals, bugs, or ants

Water Usage:

Our property uses well water that is tested twice yearly and filtered for your safety
Water pressure is usually very strong but may be reduced during periods of heavy use (such as morning showers)
Please be mindful of water usage

Communication:

Our goal is 100% 5-star reviews! If anything during your stay isn't perfect, please contact us immediately (we're available 24/7). Give us the chance to fix any issues and make it right!
You will receive multiple communications from us between booking and your stay. We keep our messages focused on important information, so please read every communication carefully.

We (your hosts) live on the property but maintain your privacy. You'll rarely see us unless you need something. We're always available for quick help or local adventure recommendations.

The Scandinavian Cabin at The Getaway on Ranger Creek sits in a beautiful, secluded, and quiet remote area on Tennessee's South Cumberland Plateau, central to state parks, hiking, waterfalls, The Caverns, and Fast Farms MotorX. However, the closest grocery store is an 8-minute drive, the closest restaurant is a 10-minute drive, and the closest gas station/convenience store is a 7-minute drive. The good news: amazing hiking and waterfalls are within a 10-minute drive, and many more incredible attractions are just a bit farther away.

This isn't a luxury resort; it's a genuine nature experience. If you want perfectly manicured grounds, room service, and zero wildlife encounters, this isn't your place. But if you want to fall asleep to crickets, wake up to birdsong, and trade your usual schedule for the woods around you, you'll feel right at home.

You will have access to your unit, plus the public parts of the property, including a few trails that traverse the back part of our 18-acre property.
